This is a translation for your convenience. The German version is legally binding.

2. The key points

• The app works without an account.
• The app stores reading progress, saved lessons, your own thoughts, settings, badges and reminder times exclusively locally on your device.
• We operate no server for the app and do not receive this data.
• We use no analytics, tracking or advertising services and do not track you across apps or websites.

3. Data on your device

The app stores a file with your content and settings in your device’s protected app storage. It stays there until you delete the app. Using “Export thoughts and collection” in your profile, you can export your content as text at any time, even without a subscription.

If you use a backup of your device (e.g. iCloud Backup), this data may be part of the backup. Apple’s terms apply to that.

4. Subscriptions and purchases

Subscriptions are purchased and billed exclusively through Apple’s App Store. We receive no payment or account data. Via Apple’s StoreKit, the app only checks on the device whether a valid subscription exists. Processing by Apple is governed by Apple’s privacy policy.

5. Notifications

Reminders are scheduled locally on your device: a daily reminder and, if you wish, a Sunday greeting and church-year feasts. There is no push server. You only get notifications if you allow them, and you can switch them off at any time in the app and in iOS Settings.

6. Photos

If you want to save a share card to your photo library, the app asks for permission to add photos. It does not read your photos.

7. Sharing and links

When you share a card or text, the app uses the iOS share sheet; you decide where it goes. The “Church nearby” button opens Apple Maps with the search term “Kirche” (church) – the app itself determines no location. Links to the terms of use and to this policy open in your browser.

8. This website

The website uses no cookies and no analytics or advertising services. Fonts, images and the book’s animation are loaded from our own server, not from third parties.

The website is hosted by Vercel Inc., 440 N Barranca Ave #4133, Covina, CA 91723, USA. When you visit, Vercel processes technically necessary data such as IP address, time, page requested and browser information in order to deliver the site and protect it from abuse (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). A data processing agreement is in place with Vercel. Transfers to the USA are covered by the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses and, insofar as Vercel is certified, the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. More in Vercel’s privacy policy.

If you email us, we use your details only to answer your enquiry (Art. 6(1)(b) or (f) GDPR) and delete them once they are no longer needed for that purpose.

9. Legal bases and your rights

Local processing on your device serves to provide the app (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR). Since we receive no personal data about you from the app, we hold no such data that we could disclose or delete.

You still have your rights under the GDPR: access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability, objection and the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority. For questions, you can reach us at support@scrollverse.app.

10. Changes

We update this policy when the app or website changes. The version published here applies.
